Day 4: Get Active and Present

Today your challenge is to move your body and practice being present during exercise. You'll do this simply by tapping into the physical sensations in your body. Using sensation as a focus point helps us get out of our heads and into our bodies.

Being present during movement helps do 2 things:

  1. Enjoy movement more, because we're in the moment and not stuck in self-critique or comparison mode.
  2. Practice living in the moment in general, which generally helps us reduce stress, reduce anxiety, and enjoy life more.

STEP ONE:

Choose any type of movement you like -- whether it's a yoga class, going for a run, or walking outside. Your movement might take as little as 10 minutes or up to an hour and a half. It's up to you.

And as you're moving, practice noticing physical sensation. Maybe it's your feet landing on the ground, your arms brushing against your sides, or the wind blowing against your face as you run.

A little note: your mind is guaranteed to wander. When you notice that happening, just gently redirect yourself back to sensation.
